Hey Canberra, ever wondered who's slinging those mouthwatering tacos, crafting those juicy smash burgers, and perfecting those crispy wings? Well, pull up a chair and let me introduce myself!
My journey started in Melbourne, a city buzzing with culinary inspiration. After 18 years of honing my skills in kitchens across restaurants, hotels, cafes, and bars, I knew it was time to create something special – a place where everyone could enjoy top-notch food without the top-shelf price tag.
I've always believed that great food should be accessible to all, and that's the driving force behind Taco Boi. Years ago, I fell in love with this very spot (yes, as a customer!), drawn to the laid-back vibe of the balcony. Sipping a beer and savouring a burger here always felt right. So, when the opportunity arose to take over, I knew it was my time to shine.
Being close friends with the previous owner of Burger Hero, I felt a responsibility to keep the smash burger dream alive. But I also wanted to spice things up a bit, so I brought my own signature flair with tacos and wings – two dishes I've always had a knack for. (Let's be honest, who doesn't love a perfectly crispy wing or a flavor-packed taco?)
The Taco Boi logo, a taco skateboarding with a burger on its head and wings scrawled across, perfectly captures the fun and energetic spirit of this place; we don’t want to take ourselves too seriously, we just want to make people smile.
But what's good food without a good drink? That's where my childhood love of slushies comes in. We're talking frozen margaritas, perfectly balanced with sweetness and lime to complement our tasty eats. I should note that they are certainly not for children.
